Christmas decorations make me…

Christmas decorations make me…
Christmas decorations make me…
Christmas decorations make me cheerful. Since last 2 years, I am not much into Christmas celebrations. This has led to my non-indulgence in Christmas decorations as well.
Back then when I used to celebrate Christmas, prior decorations were a big part of my life. I recall buying a Christmas cap and bells back then. A cake also used to be a big part of my Christmas celebrations.
Earlier when my father was alive, Christmas celebrations meant a lot to me. Our entire family would indulge in decorating a Christmas tree with gusto.
My father would prepare the Christmas rum cake with dedication. That involved soaking raisins in rum for a week. Then those were added to the cake batter to make the end result sumptuous.
When I was 10 years old, I remember decorating egg shells for Christmas. I would poke the egg shells in a strategic manner. The intention would be to keep the oval shell intact. After taking out the internal contents of the shell, I would give it a thorough wash. After it would dry, I would prepare it for the decorations.
That included drawing a face on the shells. Then further adding a paper cap on top. The caps would generally be of red color to signify the Santa Claus. The final touch to it included a white beard to the face. Me and my younger sister used cotton  for that purpose.
I also recall that my father used to place a Star lantern outside our house. That used to be his another personal Christmas decoration. It is distinct in my memory that the star was either red in color or it used to radiate a red colored light.
I would also wish a merry Christmas to the Christians I knew. But after losing my father, I have been away from celebrations. I have abstained from celebrating the festivals of my religion. Hence, celebrating Christmas does not come to my agenda anytime.
But I am interested to know what do you do as a part of Christmas decorations...

How do you balance blogging

How do you balance blogging
How do you balance blogging
I started blogging as a part of my assignment during my MBA days. Back then I never thought I will get hooked on to it.
Today I am proud to admit that a lot of my personality is due to my blogging.
In the initial days I wrote blog posts out of frustration. In fact, I had to delete a blog of mine because the ones I wrote about got to know about it.  Though that was a decade ago, and today everything around me has matured. Well, that includes me as well.
If you have peeked on my blog previously, then you know that I use it to keep my creativity at check.  This means that I come to this blog to write on random topics, just like this one.
It helps me to flex my creative writing muscles, and also gets me so traffic. Apart from this, I manage a lot many other blogs as well.
Most of them are for the clients that I work for. Few of them are also my hobby projects like this one.
Now coming to the question of balancing blogs.
Well, that comes as a natural instinct in me. No matter what I do and where I go, I come back to this blog.
This one started during the days when I was contemplating a career in writing. Here, I write in a free form, without worrying for any SEO guidelines.
I take out on an approximate 15 minutes to write 300 words like in this article.
I have not always been this awesome in writing with such fluidity. But as I always iterate, writing is more important that waiting to write better.
So, I have no other option but to manage and balance blogging to blog and write better.

Your highs and lows for the monthYour highs and lows for the month

Your highs and lows for the month
Your highs and lows for the month

This happens to be the last writing prompt in the series that I started almost 30 days back. The writing prompt of the day is - Your highs and lows for the month.
This day could not have been better for this prompt. It has rather been an eventful day today. Since, I am supposed to write for the month, so here it goes.
Your highs and lows for the month
  1. I finished the 30 writing prompt series with this post.
  2. I published by book.
  3. The book releases for actual purchases on the 27th of this month.
  4. I spoke with my mother, probably for the last time ever.
  5. I spoke with my sister, probably for the last time ever.
  6. I am glad I know the presence and absence of truth in relations.
  7. I am determined to finish the goals that I have set up for myself.
  8. I have made peace with the griefs of my life.
  9. The magic lotion that I made is working on my stretch marks.
  10. I am thankful for whoever or whatever caused bundles of misfortune and grief in my life. I garnered loads of experiences in my life, which in turn make my writing a lot better.
This was my post on Your highs and lows for the month.
Would love to know yours.

What are your goals for the next 30 days

What are your goals for the next 30 days
What are your goals for the next 30 days

As I had mentioned in one of my previous posts that my book will publish this month, i.e. 27th of November 2015.
Now with great pleasure I write that I have achieved that feat. Yes, I take pride in claiming that I am a published writer with Amazon.
My book is available in a pre-book mode. One can view the details here.
Now I come up with the writing prompt for this post. I mention my goals for the next 30 days as below:
  1. Prepare the draft of 2000+ words for the next 2 books. To put a number to it, I put it as 5000 words in all for 2 upcoming books. I got a vague idea for both. One would be on Hair and Beard grooming for men. The other would be a series of compiled love letters for Mr. Khushwant Singh.
  2. Complete the certification for Inbound Marketing Certification.
That is it!
My list may seem too small to be goals for the upcoming 30 days. But I know they are not that easy to achieve. I have an attention deficit disorder, that is why I am relaxed with my goal settings.
Now I will come back to this post 30 days from now, i.e. in and around 20th of December 2015.
I know that I have relaxed by time limit by 10 days. I have done that on purpose by including my office responsibilities into consideration.

Post five things that make you laugh-out-loud

Post five things that make you laugh-out-loud
Post five things that make you laugh-out-loud

It has been a long time that I have actually laughed. So, when I get to see this writing prompt on laughing-out-loud, I feel like laughing.
Also, something to note is that I have to mention not one, but 5 things. So, in order to make this post a success, I am going to mention moments from my past.
To let out a fact, there is a an individual tag on humor on this blog. But it has been years that it was last updated.
I am not sure if this post will have a legitimate entry into that tag. Irrespective of the outcome, I am generating content for this writing prompt.
Post five things that make you laugh-out-loud
1.     Gutthi
The time when I was neck-deep in depression, I got addicted to Comedy Nights with Kapil series.  More than anything else, I wanted to watch Gutthi in the show over and over again. The panache with which the actor Sunil Grover plays the character is phenomenal. The nuances of a small town girl portrayed in the character by the actor made my days during depression.
2.     Vishal Dogra
I can never thank this friend of mine enough. If my writing career is back at pace, it is all due to him. I can never figure out how this person became my best friend. The initial interaction with him started off as just another Twitter follower. Though today he has become the reason I burst into streams of laughter without reason.
3.     My younger sister
This is my younger sister and is a bag full of fun. Whenever she is around, laughter automatically follows. Whether it is her acts of mimicry, funny one liners or she being her usual self. My younger sister for sure is one person who gets me into fits of laughter.
4.     Funny Cat videos
You know what I am talking about. There are tons of videos of cute cats and kittens that makes me happy. Thanks to those videos, my love for felines keeps getting a generous dose through them. I have included my latest favourite one too.

5.     Stupid spelling mistakes
This one is a not difficult to explain. Being in content generation for a long time, I am sensitive to proof reading. Therefore, the moment I see an anomaly with content, I burst into giggles.
In fact, the more a bigger brand falters, the more is my laughter. I have included the example here.

Can you post five things that make you laugh-out-loud

Conversely, write about something that's kicking ass right now

Conversely, write about something that's kicking ass right now
Conversely, write about something that's kicking ass right now

Something that is kicking ass right now !
I admit I do not know. What could it be?
Since the last 2 days I am working on a blog post for my employer.
My mind is moving in all directions to generate content for it. The topic is Big Data.
I did write 2 posts before this one, and they performed quite well.
I term them as well, because they got a considerable amount of engagement from the readers.
The second post performed much better compared to the first one. That is the reason I was on my toes for the content on the third one.
I did not want to lose out on the eye-balls for the third one. So, generating the content for the blog post for my employer is something that is kicking my ass right now.
Though the ones till now have performed good. I am now preparing myself to come up with ideas for the subsequent ones from now.
Till the time I write more on this topic, I struggle with content ideas. Though I am confident that my writing will become automatic once I get a hang of the topic.
I am on my way to increase my knowledge on the subject. I read anything and everything on the topics related to Big Data to supplement my authority on the topic.

In the middle of all this, I got a token of appreciation from a senior columnist with Hindustan Times. That did made my day!
So, looking forward for more of this kicking ass right now......

Write about an area in your life that you'd like to improve

Write about an area in your life that you'd like to improve
Write about an area in your life that you'd like to improve

I am an incompetent person. There is a lot in my life that I wish to improve upon. I wish to be a better writer. I want to be a better person. I want to be a better daughter. I want to be a better sister.
The list is endless.
For the purpose of this writing prompt, I have taken my habit of procrastination.
I feel if this particular area of my life gets better, it will give a holistic positive impact.
For an instance, today I woke up at 6:30 am, but did not do any writing.
I kept on taking small naps and straight away went away for work.
If only I had not given in to my procrastination, I would have added another 500 words to my manuscript.
Right now also, I took so long to write this post. I kept playing with a colleague's kid and watched funny cat videos. This means that I basically did nothing productive.
Hence, it is of pertinent importance that I get out of my procrastinating self.
One way to do is by structuring and organizing my daily routine. I am happy to write that I am on an constant effort to do it. Therefore, I got into the habit of using Trello for my writing assignments. I also got hooked on to the sleepy.time app for the same purpose.
But all this will bear fruits when I banish procrastination from my mental system.
So for sure, this is one area in my life that I would like to improve. I wish to remove all sluggishness from my life. I wish to be a more productive and organized me.
I know I would have achieved this when I start publishing at least one book per month.

Think of any word. Search it on google images. Write something inspired by the 11th image.

FLABBERGASTED.

I like this writing prompt of the day. It is an interesting one. I closed my eyes for a second to concentrate on a word. I was taken in for a surprise when I came up with this one - FLABBERGASTED.

So, here I post the 11th image in the sequence of my search for the word.

Think of any word. Search it on google images. Write something inspired by the 11th image.
 Flabbergasted

To describe this image, it lives up to the search query I performed. Not only the image depicts the word Flabbergasted to the T, it also has the word as a heading.
Flabbergasted means surprised or amazed. The girl in the picture looks anything but surprised to the core. It could have been that she saw something that frightened her. It also could be that she saw something that she never expected to see in her lifetime.
I am not sure if the girl in the image has her real emotions captured. It could be that she is pretending to be surprised. Whatever the case may be, she does express a visual denotation to the word FLABBERGASTED.
This image was the 11th one in my google image search query for the word FLABBERGASTED. The ones before this image were the images of animals in a surprised state. Most of them included surprised cats and dogs in a meme sarcasm mode.
Before I actually counted the 11th image, I was certain of finding an image of a surprised animal. But I was in fact surprised to find a human image for the word.
Writing of the word Flabbergasted, I am sure in for a one. It is like saying deja vu for the word that is the writing prompt of the day.

Write about a lesson you've learned the hard way

Write about a lesson you've learned the hard way
Write about a lesson you've learned the hard way

I posted a few days ago about teaching a few things to my children, if I have any in future. One of the things that I mention in that post is about self-learning.
I am proud to claim that all that I am today is because of self-learning.
I do not owe anything to anyone for what I am and what I know.
It is all because of learning lessons of my life the hard away.
I must have learnt a lot many things myself. Out of which I am writing the No. 1 learnt lesson here in this post.
Do not fix your happiness goals on anyone else than you.
I have wasted a lot many years of my life fixing my happiness goals on others. Others include family, friends, and people to whom I was close then. All this led to disappointment, grief and depression.
Moreover,  if I recall, this happened to me 4-5 times. One after the other series of bad experiences left a bad taste in my mouth. I felt no truth to human relationships, except for selfishness and deceit. I begin to wonder the basis of having friends and relatives. When all relations are convenience based, then why one should one consider them in their life?
It was more disheartening because I had stood through the bad times of all those people. On the contrary of being some help, they mocked and turned cold towards me.
Now I am happy to admit that I no more let anyone make me unhappy. I live my life the way I wish to, without giving a damn.
