Christmas decorations make me…

Christmas decorations make me…
Christmas decorations make me…
Christmas decorations make me cheerful. Since last 2 years, I am not much into Christmas celebrations. This has led to my non-indulgence in Christmas decorations as well.
Back then when I used to celebrate Christmas, prior decorations were a big part of my life. I recall buying a Christmas cap and bells back then. A cake also used to be a big part of my Christmas celebrations.
Earlier when my father was alive, Christmas celebrations meant a lot to me. Our entire family would indulge in decorating a Christmas tree with gusto.
My father would prepare the Christmas rum cake with dedication. That involved soaking raisins in rum for a week. Then those were added to the cake batter to make the end result sumptuous.
When I was 10 years old, I remember decorating egg shells for Christmas. I would poke the egg shells in a strategic manner. The intention would be to keep the oval shell intact. After taking out the internal contents of the shell, I would give it a thorough wash. After it would dry, I would prepare it for the decorations.
That included drawing a face on the shells. Then further adding a paper cap on top. The caps would generally be of red color to signify the Santa Claus. The final touch to it included a white beard to the face. Me and my younger sister used cotton  for that purpose.
I also recall that my father used to place a Star lantern outside our house. That used to be his another personal Christmas decoration. It is distinct in my memory that the star was either red in color or it used to radiate a red colored light.
I would also wish a merry Christmas to the Christians I knew. But after losing my father, I have been away from celebrations. I have abstained from celebrating the festivals of my religion. Hence, celebrating Christmas does not come to my agenda anytime.
But I am interested to know what do you do as a part of Christmas decorations...
