She was always drawn towards the threads, bands, rings, or any other thing that could emphasize the ties. Ties that were symbolic with bonds, boundaries, spheres, encircles, protections and also knots. The wedding ring bands; the ties for sealing the mouths of open plastic pouches of breads; shampoos and conditioners tied together with a plastic band and placed on a display shelf of a retail mall; the red dupatta tied as a knot between the bride and groom at the time of their marriage; the friendship band between friends; the Rakhi between siblings; the rubber band holding all the hair strands together; and indeed the umbilical cord holding her and her baby together.
