Things that I just dont get - IV

Hmm this is what I feel whenever I go to a barbecue joint with my vegetarian friends. "Why are you guys being so cruel to the innocent veggies??? What did they do to go through so much of basting"

Well, I know the vegetarian eaters do have their reasons; that is all they can do to be close to tasting a barbecue. But guys just think about the poor veggies....the round potatoes, the thin carrot slices, florets of cauliflowers and so many others grilled along with the skewers. My heart cries whenever I see the sight of a beautiful pepper turning all withered with exposure to heat.

All I want to ask is why be so cruel to the innocent vegetables. They hardly have any major nutrients in them, mostly the b-complex and vitamin C that are so heat labile that the moment they are exposed to such a painful amount of heat, they get destroyed. It simply means that you are destroying the nutrients in the vegetables and instead chewing on some tasty fibers. Also, the biggest crime is apart from grilling the vegetables in charcoal, people grill the ah-so-nice paneer or the cottage cheese too. Man that is such a nice amount of good protein, and that is also brutally destroyed by succumbing to a grill. Protein has amino acids that get denatured by heat, so the barbecued paneer technically loses all its goodness when smeared with a nice barbecue sauce and then exposed to heat by passing through piercing skewers. Man that is a lot of torture that poor veggie food goes through. Why not just have them as it is with some little saute or boiling around??

But if you really want to enjoy the taste of barbecues, then you will have to put some chicken breasts and some tender lamb flesh through the skewers; and then expose them all to the kiln. And do not forget to make a tasty barbecue marinade with some herbs infused curds...wow amazing.

Well that high temperature is what the flesh has to go through in order to get cooked properly; and the same heat destroys all the goodies in the veggies...still I do not know why do people harm the innocent veggies around :(
