Dressing Game

It was just yesterday that I was watching my favourite channel TLC and ended up watching the hugely popular Trinny and Susannah's makeover series.

The last night's show was interesting because the series was exclusively shot in India.

It was interesting to observe that how much we Indians lack the sense to dress. Most of us believe that it is stylish and in-vogue to wear the dresses that the celebrities adorn. We believe that if particular apparel looks good on someone famous, then it will look good on us too.

The classic example of this mindset was aptly evident in the show yesterday. When Trinny asked one of the volunteer on the show to name any well dressed and stylish celebrity whom he would like to emulate; the person instantly replied Amir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.

To this response Trinny obviously had her reservations. Though she did not utter them in obvious, but she was coy enough to point it out to the person that both the men in question were much much older to him.

By the way that person was of 29 years of age, which is obviously way lower to the ages of 45 and 60 of the good dressed celebrities respectively.

So obviously the person had to drop out from the option of looking like those two men.

Then Trinny asked the same dude to name any stylishly dressed Indian sportsperson. But on this question the person ended up being more dumbstruck than the time he was on being asked a good dressed Bollywood male.

It indeed turned out hilarious. But come to think of the serious issue; our country has so many celebrities who belong to the sports fraternity, but none, I repeat none can be termed as stylish. There are hunks like Yuvraj Singh, and also so called hunks named Virat Kohli, but nobody is known for having a unique dressing statement.

I thought a lot on this deplorable state of our sporting people lacking a sportive spirit in fashion. Not only the sporty people could not manage to bring Olympic Golds, but they also lack lustre in the dressing fields.

But I got a little happy when I thought of Mr. Navjyot Singh Siddhu.

He is the only one I can name who actually seems to be giving a thought to his dressing before stepping out in the media lights.

Not just he matches his ties and kerchiefs to his turbans, but also immaculately compliments his footwear to his suits.

Thank goodness there is pajji who could make the work of these fashionista ladies a little less burdensome.

Though, only if the ladies could locate him on their radar.
